ARCHITECTURAL AND DESIGN PRACTICE

Guesthouse

Guesthouse

The house is located within a private residence and combines two types of traditional wooden construction: log and timber frame. Despite the apparent simplicity of its architectural techniques, the project offers an uncompromising vision of solid wooden and stone structures, executed at the very limits of their possible dimensions, while reducing the structural junctions to minimalist and concealed solutions. The stone stylobate levels the sloping terrain to support the wooden framework, making the building appear to rest upon a rocky foundation and slightly rise above the ground, which lends it a sense of greater significance. At the heart of the project lies the living room, kitchen, and dining area with a fireplace, while the bedroom wings are arranged on three sides with views of the surrounding nature. In this way, the house offers both intimacy in seclusion and shared time at the hearth. The entrance is accentuated by a fountain, reinforcing the presence of nature and creating a welcoming, serene atmosphere for guests.
